Exegesis:

heteroi ‘others,’ i.e. from among the crowds.

peirazontes scil. auton ‘putting him to the test,’ or, ‘trying to test him.’ For peirazō cf. on 4.2.

sēmeion ex ouranou ‘a sign from heaven.’ sēmeion (cf. on 2.12) here refers to a miracle which Jesus was to perform in order to prove himself in the eyes of the people to be the Messiah.

ezētoun par’ autou ‘(they) demanded from him.’
