And do his will: By calling on the assembly to do his will, Ezra calls on them to come back into conformity with God’s law against intermarriage with foreigners. This clause may be rendered “You must obey God” or “and do what he requires” (Good News Bible).

Separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from your foreign wives: See the comments on 1 Esd 8.93. More than divorce from the non-Jewish wives is involved here, but actually sending them away from their community, and taking measures to keep themselves separate from non-Jews afterward.

Good News Bible provides a good model for this verse by joining it closely with the preceding verse.
