And Judas saw all the evil that Alcimus and those with him had done among the sons of Israel; it was more than the Gentiles had done: The sons of Israel are the Jews; Good News Bible does not express it here since it can be implied from the previous verse. Good News Bible translates this verse well, but other possible models are:

• Judas thought that the damage Alcimus and his followers were doing was even worse than what the Gentiles had done.

• Judas thought that Alcimus and his men were hurting the Jews even worse than the Gentiles had.

• When Judas saw that Alcimus and his followers were causing so much trouble for the Jews, he said, “These people are worse than the Gentiles.”
