Pekahiah receives a negative evaluation from the writer of the book of 2 Kings, but there is no special emphasis here as there was in the case of Menahem (verse 18).

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD: See the comments on 1 Kgs 11.6 and 2 Kgs 3.2.

He did not turn away from …: This negative statement may be rendered positively if this is more natural in the receptor language. Some may prefer to say “he continued to follow…” or “he kept on committing…” (compare 2 Kgs 3.3).
