The altars mentioned here would be used in the worship of all the host of heaven. As in verse 3, it may be better to translate the host of heaven as “the heavenly bodies,” “the things in the sky,” or something similar in this context.

In the two courts of the house of the LORD: The description of the Temple in 1 Kgs 6.36 speaks only of one court, called “the inner court” (but see 1 Kgs 7.8-9). Ezek 40.17-19 mentions both an “outer court” and an “inner court.” The inner court probably refers to the court of the priests and the outer court to the one used by the ordinary people of Israel. New International Version and Contemporary English Version translate “both courts.” Translators should not confuse these courts with law courts.
