He answered is literally “he answered them,” and stands at the beginning of the verse. In Good News Translation‘s restructuring “them” is implicit information.

Good News Translation, together with a number of other translations (Revised Standard Version, Moffatt, New American Bible, Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch), understand the Greek “did not listen” to carry the meaning would not listen. In some languages would not listen may be rendered “did not want to listen to what I was saying” or “did not want to pay attention.”

To hear it again may be rendered “to hear me say it again” or “to hear me again say what happened.”

Maybe you, too, would like to be his disciples? is stated in Greek as to expect the answer “No” (see 4.29). The question is ironical. As a rhetorical question, expecting a negative answer, it may be reproduced as a statement in some languages: “It could not be possible that you would like to be his disciples” or the negative implication may be brought out as “Surely you would not like to be his disciples, would you?”
