Translation commentary on Nehemiah 3:28

The Horse Gate was probably a gate in the wall on the east side of the city in the vicinity of the Temple. It was the easternmost point of the city (see Jer 31.40).

Opposite his own house refers to the section of wall that was “across from his own house” or that “looked at his own house.”
