Translation commentary on Psalm 118:28 - 118:29

In verse 28 the king once more gives thanks to God. Thou art my God must often be rendered in translation as “You are the God whom I worship.” “Proclaim your greatness” in Good News Translation must often be recast to say, for example, “I will tell everyone how great you are.”

The psalm closes with a final call to thanksgiving, sung by the choir or the congregation, which is exactly like the opening call in verse 1.

Bible de Jérusalem and New Jerusalem Bible follow the Septuagint and at the end of verse 28 repeat verse 21.
