Now I am going to tell you the good news about Jesus, the Son of God. God chose Him to come from Heaven to us.

A long time ago there was a man called Isaiah. He was a prophet and had a relationship with God. Everything that God spoke to him, Isaiah wrote down. Isaiah said that in the future in a wilderness land God would choose a man and that man would be a messenger. That man will call all people to be ready to meet God. He would call all people to prepare their heart. That’s the way it was written down.

Many, many years have passed and it has definitely come true.

In Israel, in the wilderness, near the Jordan River, there walked a man, a messenger, named John. He dressed in a camel skin garment covered with fur and wore a leather belt. He would take locusts and honey and eat them. He went all over Judea. People came to him from different places, and many people from the city of Jerusalem came to him. John called to them and said to them many times:

— You are sinners! You are doing evil deeds! Change yourselves! Stop committing sins and evil deeds! Become one with God! Repent of your sins and evil deeds, dip yourself in this water, and then God will forgive your sins and bad deeds.

People listened, thinking:

— We are sinful, but God will forgive our sins.

And many people came to him, dipped in the water and repented.

John said to everyone:

— There is a man, he is coming very soon. He is much greater than I am and much more powerful. I am insignificant compared to him, I am lower than him. I am dipping you in water, but He is different. Only He will cleanse your hearts forever with the Holy Spirit.

There He dipped into the water. Then He came out of the water and looked up into heaven. The clouds had parted in different directions. The Spirit of God descended on Jesus in the form of a bird. God from heaven looked at Jesus and said:

— I am very glad! You are my beloved son!

Jesus looked at heaven, then at the desert around him. Then the Spirit of God took Jesus and carried him far away into the desert. Jesus stayed there for 40 days.

In that place was Satan, who was persecuting Jesus. Satan hoped to tempt Jesus to make an accidental mistake. But the angels of God were protecting Jesus. There were some ravenous beasts around, Jesus walked among them. But the angels of God protected Jesus on every side.

Many people were brought to Simon’s house. The sick were being put together and they took up all the space around Simon’s house. They waited for Jesus to come out. Jesus came out and treated the sick: He healed one, cured another, cast out a demon from a demon possessed man. The demons inside the possessed wanted to talk about Jesus, but he forbade them! Jesus healed one, another, and a third. He cast out demons from one man and another. And all this was until late at night.

Early in the morning, when the sun had just risen, Jesus quietly went out of Simon’s house and looked for a deserted place. Jesus began to pray earnestly to God. And Simon and the men began to look for Jesus everywhere, and they searched and searched and searched, and finally they found him. And they said:

— There are people there, they are all waiting for you. Let’s go!

Jesus answered them:

— No. I came here, why? I need to tell everyone about God. You follow me.

And the four men used ropes to pull the stretcher with the sick man up onto the roof, and then carefully lowered him down into the hole below. Jesus watched the stretcher being lowered, and when it came down in front of him, he said:

— My son, your sins are forgiven!

And in the midst of the crowd sat several teachers of the law. They shuddered with indignation, and began to talk and point at Jesus:

— How dare Jesus say, “Your sins are forgiven”! God alone can forgive sins! And Jesus says such things! He is insulting God.

They were very indignant.

Jesus realized what they were thinking and said:

— Enough! Why are you slandering me? I am asking you a question. There are two things: which one is easier?

First I say to him, “Your sins are forgiven.”
