Although Revised Standard Version doesn’t begin a new paragraph here, both Good News Bible and Contemporary English Version do, since the enemy is in focus again.
Then the enemy hastened to attack them may be expressed as “At once [or, Immediately] the enemy soldiers attacked them.” Instead of the enemy, the Greek text says “they” (so Revised Standard Version footnote). Revised Standard Version often makes this type of change to identify the referents clearly. We will not comment on every passage where Revised Standard Version does this.
