Good News Bible inserts a paragraph break here, which is not necessary.

The Greeks planned to come and destroy them: With good reason Goldstein translates The Greeks as “The Greeks of mainland Greece.” The reference is only to them, and not to the many Greeks living elsewhere in the world. “The people of Greece” would be an acceptable translation. It identifies a country rather than a culture. The pronoun them refers to the Romans, which Good News Bible makes clear in the next verse. Good News Bible restructures this verse so that it becomes a subordinate clause to the next verse: “When the Greeks made plans….” This works well in English; translators may wish to consider it. It is also possible to combine this verse with the first clause of the next verse as follows: “When the Romans found out that the Greeks were planning to attack and destroy them.”
