Jerusalem

The name that is transliterated as “Jerusalem” in English is signed in French Sign Language with a sign that depicts worshiping at the Western Wall in Jerusalem:

While a similar sign is also used in British Sign Language, another, more neutral sign that combines the sign “J” and the signs for “place” is used as well. (Source: Anna Smith)

Translation commentary on 2 Maccabees 8:31

Collecting the arms of the enemy, they stored them all carefully in strategic places, and carried the rest of the spoils to Jerusalem: For Collecting the arms of the enemy, Good News Bible has an excellent model. Presumably the weapons of the dead enemies would have been gathered at the same time spoils were taken (verse 30), but this is discussed separately since the weapons were not divided among the people. They were put in strategic places, that is, places where Judas and his soldiers could get to them easily in a case of military need. This way they would have access to the weapons without having to carry them all over the country. Strategic places may be rendered “places where they could find them later” or even “places where they would be ready for use” (similarly Contemporary English Version).
