Translation commentary on Sirach 35:12

Give to the Most High as he has given, and as generously as your hand has found: Good News Translation helpfully adds “given to you.” The idiom as your hand has found (literally “according to the finding of [your] hand”) means “as you can afford” (New Revised Standard Version). The same Hebrew idiom used here is found in 14.13, where the Greek reads “according to your strength.” (From here through 38.27, the Hebrew text is again available.) Good News Translation offers a good model for this verse.
